Getting Inside Your Head

What's it like to find yourself inside someone else's head?  Ask Charlie Wilkes.

MPL Book Trailer #175
The Black Room, Part One: In The Black Room
(A Paranormal Mystery)
by Luke Smitherd

It's still better than being stuck inside Scowl-Face's head.  Just saying.

Although this book is targeted toward the young adult audience, the twenty-something crowd should also find it a riveting read.  It will hold your interest from start to finish.

I don't like to give away too many details in my book reviews.  I'm content to "hook" you with our book trailer.  There's further description available on Amazon.com, if you'd like.

Your Roving Reporter On The Go,

Cauli Le Chat

P.S.  "Paint It, Black," by the Rolling Stones, was a number one hit single (1966) and was included on the U.S. release of the album Aftermath (1966).

This Fantasy Read Pans Out

We've found a young adult fantasy novel from a decade ago that really pans out.

The Great God Pan, by Donna Jo Napoli
(MPL Book Trailer #174)

This book was the perfect vehicle for the MPL composer's A Day in the Life of Pan, for Flute, Cello, and Bass Trio (2013), about which we recently blogged.

The Great God Pan is recommended for readers in grades 7-10, so we're talking the younger end of the young adult spectrum.  It is available for Evergreen Indiana cardholders to check-out in our online Evergreen Indiana catalog.

Your Roving Reporter On The Go,
Cauli Le Chat

P.S.  Here's the complete version of A Day in the Life of Pan, for Flute, Cello, and Bass Trio (2013), composed by Daniel E. Buckley, MPL composer.

Nursery Rhyme Time With Crafty Gal

Crafty Gal has a new early literacy video series, Nursery Rhyme Time. Parents and caregivers may follow along with the videos, reciting these Mother Goose (and other popular) nursery rhymes with their preschoolers.

A Day in the Life of Pan

The MPL Composer, whom I call the Music Man, has written a new composition for flute, cello, and bass trio called A Day in the Life of Pan (2013).  Have a listen.

Translation, If You Please

My minions have added a Google translation gadget to my blog.  Now you can translate my discerning and delightful musings into many different languages!  I didn't see feline listed, but my kitty readers know what I'm saying.  Humans are the ones who need help understanding us cats.

Does it work well?  Are the translations sensible?  Unfortunately, I only speak feline and English (well, I know a little French, as my name suggests).  Guess I should have hung out around our local high school language lab instead of the cafeteria dumpster.  Still, I've got my priorities.

Your Roving Reporter On The Go,
Cauli Le Chat

P.S.  In one of my previous lives, the first song I heard with "foreign" language lyrics was "Michelle," by the Beatles, from Rubber Soul (1965). All languages have interesting sounds, and hearing Paul McCartney singing in French made the song seem more emotional--even passionate--to moi.

Check Out Our Auto Check-In

Check out our automated check-in system.  "Flat" Cauli V has the scoop.

Auto Check-in @ MPL
By "Flat" Cauli V
("Flat Five" For Short)

Flat Five has had some previous experience using this nifty machine.  This time, things went more smoothly.

You should give our auto check-in a try on your next library visit.  Check something out first, though.  Why not some of those books Flat Five was checking-in?  By now, they're probably reshelved and available in our Evergreen Indiana online catalog for lucky E.I. cardholders.

Quiz time!  Can you name those books Flat Five returned in the video?  I've got helpful hints:
Good reading, I'd venture.

P.S.  Speaking of checking items in and out, here's John Mellencamp performing "Check It Out" live at the Farm Aid concert (2010).

Cover Blues? Not For Moi

CircMaster and Q-lady designed a clever new book display, based upon an actual reference question that we receive from quite a few patrons.

I noticed one book right away.

Naturally, we've got a book trailer for that.

Travelling Dress Moves Front & Center

Broadway Gal's travelling Caldecott button dress moved front and center today from the Library's Youth Services Department to the Grand Hall. Caldecott Medal award-winning books are on display, too.  Naturally, we have photos, which you should click to bigify.  This time, we took pictures of both sides of the dress.

The dress still looks better on Broadway Gal.  Just saying.

Your Roving Reporter On The Go,

Cauli Le Chat

P.S.  "Little Black Dress," by Sara Bareilles, is about the difficulty in "showcasing your authentic self in the world of entertainment," so the singer/songwriter told VH1.  The song was featured on the CD The Blessed Unrest (2013), which was just released last month.

MPL Bookworm Makes the Hit Parade

The MPL bookworm float made the "hit parade" this afternoon during the annual Old Settlers parade through downtown Mooresville on its way to Pioneer Park (and the Old Settlers festival itself).  Boss Lady and OfficeMeister led the way with the MPL banner.  Click the images to bigify.

Since the bookworm was facing left (and Scowl-Face was on the right-paw side of the street), you can't see the bookworm's face very well. Fortunately, we have other photos from a previous blog post.

Great job, Decorinator and her float team!

Be sure to visit the Library's booth at the Old Settlers Festival.  There's bound to be some great giveaway stuff.  The festival is open from 5 p.m. until 11 p.m.
