As Scary As the Movie

If you enjoy horror thrillers, you should read the novel (based on a real life criminal case) that spawned Alfred Hitchcock's masterpiece.

MPL Book Trailer #173
Psycho, by Robert Bloch

We thought the MPL Composer's "Flight of Fear" was especially well-suited as our book trailer's music soundtrack.

Hitchcock's Psycho is the scariest motion picture ever made, but the terror derives directly from Bloch's treatment of a psychologically unbalanced motel owner and his split personality.  I'm sure that nobody needs a "spoiler alert" for this--who hasn't seen the movie?--but I suspect few of my readers have actually read Bloch's book.  Evergreen Indiana cardholders may check it out by placing a hold using the E.I. online catalog.

P.S.  To get you into the mood to read the book, here's the complete music soundtrack (composed by Bernard Herrmann) to the movie Psycho (1960).  The soundtrack is available from online sellers (for instance).  Why Herrmann wasn't nominated for the Academy Award for best original music score, I can't imagine.
