Strange Condor Roosts in Our Fiction Stacks

A rather strange condor has roosted in the adult fiction stacks at my Library.

We don't usually see such a large winged too-big-to-be-my-dinner critter.  Come to think of it, I wonder if that's a condor, after all.  Let's check one of our encyclopedic databases, Britannica Image Quest.

California Condor

Must be a different type than the one atop our fiction stacks.  The head coloring is different.  There's also something really familiar about our giant winged-dinner-of-prey.

NOW I've placed her!  That's no winged dinner!  That's Boss Lady.  But what's she doing walking across the tops of the shelves?  I don't see a nest, so she's not waiting for chicksoons.  Maybe it's some type of performance-enhancing exercise that librarians do at staff in-service training.  That's when the photo was taken (February 18, 2013).  I remember there were staff breakout sessions for specific topics--none of which involved any special din-dins for moi, I might note in passing.

I hope Boss Lady dusted while she was perched up there.  Shelf tops can get really dusty after seven years.

P.S.  Simon and Garfunkel recorded a cover of a traditional Peruvian folk song, "El Cóndor Pasa" (1913), which I believe translates into English as "The Condor Passes."  It was included on their LP Bridge Over Troubled Water (1970).
