Technological Communications From the Afterlife

In parapsychological research circles, ITC (instrumental transcommunication) is the purported communication between discarnate entities with persons living on earth by means of electronic devices.  One book that extensively considers the subject is Conversations Beyond the Light With Departed Friends & Colleagues by Electronic Means, by Dr. Pat Kubis & Mark Macy (Griffin Publishing & Continuing Life Research, 1995) (ISBN 1-882180-47-X).

Thomas Edison, among many other prominent scientists of his day, was convinced that it would be possible to construct an electronic device with which to communicate with the dead.  It was simply a matter of determining the appropriate energy wavelengths and means of focusing and reproducing audio or, later, visual data.  Many researchers have engaged in this quest over the years, and Kubis and Macy provide a reasonably detailed analysis of the topic.  It sounds like spooky science fiction--perhaps akin to "Night Call," an episode of the television program The Twilight Zone (1959-1964), in which a downed telephone line lying across a tombstone enabled a deceased man to call-up an elderly woman--but there appear to be some genuine technological capabilities that make such communication possible.  There's the old joke about making a collect call to the afterlife--think of the long-distance charge!--but perhaps Edison's vision may eventually become practicable.  If so, who would you contact?

It's Fun to Consider,

P.S.  The Twilight Zone episode "Night Call" was scheduled for broadcast on Nov. 22, 1963, but delayed-broadcast on Feb. 7, 1964.
